Cavendish Day 2017
Posted by John Armstrong on 22 August 2017
10.00 am on Saturday, 19th August saw the start of the annual Cavendish Plate tournament, with players trying to get as many woods as possible placed within a yard of the jack.
Jan Rush's organisation paid off and once we had learned how to score correctly, it all went smoothly (and it didn't rain!).
Never realised how difficult it is to place a wood within a yard of the jack - some were (much) better than others - and there was a lot of fun had with the yardsticks, but that's another story!
A long day's bowling (40 ends each) produced a 3rd place (Phyllis Playfoot), a second place (Geoff Smith), and a new holder of the Cavendish Trophy, Brian Bamford!
Thanks to Jan for a day well spent and to Mike Milward for the 100 Club Draw and helping with the raffle.
