2016 Eastcote Tour

The 2016 Eastcote Bowls Tour to Eastbourne was another success, following the 2015 tour. We were so lucky with the weather - every day was dry and mostly sunny. Thirty-eight members left the club by coach on Friday 1st July for a week of bowls and beach, staying at Eastbourne’s The Bay Burlington Hotel.
The Burlington looked after us very well; the staff were very helpful, our rooms were comfortable and the food was good.
The Bowls venues were all good and we were made very welcome; the greens were super and it was a pleasure to bowl.
We had 5 different bowling venues and our fixtures were as follows:-
Saturday 2nd: Eastbourne Bowling Club with 10 mixed triples
Impressive backdrop to Eastbourne BC
Sunday 3rd Parade Bowling Club on the sea front, which was ideal for the spectators as the sun shone!
On parade at Parade!
Monday 4th: Hampden Park was a full day. We played in the morning and they kindly provided a buffet lunch after the match with drinks from the bar!
Being hammered at Hampden!
Tuesday 5th : was our day off to do as we pleased. We all went our separate ways with the Club providing £10 each for lunch and a voucher for an afternoon cream tea in the hotel.
Finding Inner Beauty at the Marina!
Wednesday 6th Gildridge Park where many of our bowlers have played previously on day trips by coach.
Gilding the lily at Gildridge
Thursday 7th Bexhill Bowling Club was our final match of the tour.
At the hotel, Mark Snow was our entertainment host. He kept us amused every night, and during the week we also enjoyed an assortment of variety acts.
Mark Snow and groupies!
At dinner the winning team of the day received a bottle of wine each and every evening 3 people received £10 each from a lucky number draw.
We all had a very enjoyable week away until Friday when the coach picked us up at 10am for the journey home!
Overall, Chris & Ray and Jan & Bob enjoyed organising and taking part in the tour and from the thanks received, it appears everybody else did too.
