League News for the 2018 Season

Colin Williams reports:

Our group in the Middlesex League was dominated by Ladygate who secured 28 points from a possible 30.The other three clubs were evenly matched. We lost by one point to Harrow and drew with Harefield having been denied the win by a very close measure on the final end. The umpire from Eastcote did the measuring and awarded the shot to Harefield. Shoot him!!!

The H&D vets league div1 was dominated this year by Harrow winning 9 of their 12 games. Eastcote were well positioned with three games to play but suffered heavy defeats in all of them and finished winning 6 games from their 12. In div 2 Eastcote managed 3 wins from 12 games marginally better than the 2017 season but unfortunately finished bottom of the table.

Eastcote achieved partial success in the Vet’s League cup reaching the final, believed to be for the first time ever, certainly the first time in 30 years. Unfortunately in the final they were defeated by Wealdstone losing 60-43.

In the C&T league our group was dominated by Ladygate with 63 points. Eastcote finished third with 44 points marginally behind Bessingby on 48 points. A poor result on 21st May at Bessingby prevented us from finishing second.

In H&D bidgood div 2 we have two teams, Eastcote & Cavendish. Eastcote went to Stanmore for their last game with the two clubs standing in first and second position in the league. We thought a win would secure the title but had forgotten to take into account Northwood languishing in the middle of the table. Northwood had a storming finish gaining maximum points from their final 4 or 5 games beating Cavendish in their final game to snatch the title from Eastcote. Cavendish were kept off the foot of the table by Ruislip B.
